"He had entropian in both eyes
that I am sure drove him crazy all his life, he had
an abscess in his mouth and his gums were as white as
this page. He could barely hold his head up but would
wag his tail at the sound of his name. He was an abandoned
dog and when AC picked him up a lady came out and said
it was her son's dog, he was 8 and named Duke."

BLACKJACK
Unknown - August 21, 2004

|
Blackjack was an urgent
dog listed for a shelter in Kansas. Though he was quickly
running out of time, a few very dedicated people tried
everything they could to find him a home. In the end,
he fell ill at the shelter and was sent to the Bridge.

Loving Memory of
Milou (MEE-LOW)
Unknown - May 21st, 2004

I
thank everyone who was so compassionate in my search
for a forever home for Milou; which I had found....the
perfect home for Milou ~ a home where he was going to
be the only pet who would be loved and spoiled ~ just
what I was looking for; for Milou.
Sadly, my integrity and persistence in my search to
find Milou a home was doubted by the vets office where
Milou was staying ~ I had been, and Milou had been promised
he was safe until June 1st, and I made a silent promise
~ that I would find Milou a home.
Unfortunately, all of our efforts were for not, and
Milou paid the ultimate price ~ and on 5/21/04, his
life was taken without the veterinarian saying one word
to anyone until after the deed was done.
Milou was to go home on the weekend of 5/22/04 ~ his
very own home with a family and a yard, and lots of
love. A home that I'd found for Milou. The family cried
when I told them of Milou's fate ~
A and my heart is still crying now ~ for Milou. |

CONTESSA

"I told her I loved
her and that I was sorry that she had to live the
way she did.
I
brought her chicken and treats and took her for a
walk this afternoon when
it was so beautiful out. I hugged her and gave her
a rawhide which she was
delighted with. I can only pray that the moment she
died, God let her know she was loved ..."

Loving Memory of
BLUE BOY
2000 - 2004

Blue you have touched
my life and made me a better person more then anyone
else in this
world.
Before you came along, I was like everyone else,
I was terrified of you because of your breed and thought
you should be banned along with everyone else like
you. You didn't mind it, you still gave me your smile
and kissed me all over trying to show me the light.
Well you did show me the light
Blue, you are responsible for who I am today and
all the dogs I have saved and
will continue to save because of you. You did more
in your short four years of life then many people
do in their long lifetime.
When I heard you were
sick
and time was short my heart sank further then
ever before, I felt a part of me dying with you.
Blue
you were an amazing dog that touched everyone
you came
in contact with. Your memory will last forever
and will be what keeps me going when times get
rough.
The
Pit Bulls and I thank you.

Loving Memory of
Real name Unknown, but to us, REDBOY
Unknown - February 12th, 2004

To
all those who we were unable to save, We are so
sorry for all that you
have
been through just because of your breed.
You
were bred for man's cruel entertaiment, and
you fought because that is
what
you thought you were to do. After you were of no use
you were tossed
aside
to fend for yourself.
You
wound up in our care and we showed you that you,
too, could be loved. We gave you blankets and yummy
food and even more
importantly we showed you love. You in return showed
how much you
appreciated the kind touch by the kisses on our face.
We
had to end your life because of the coldhearted
people that just saw you
as a bet. You were more then a bet, you were a kind
soul that would do anything
to hear 'good boy'. Now that you have gone you do not
have to fight to
get your next meal , you can be free and run with those,
who like you, we
were unable to save.
Just know that you were not just a bet you were
a wonderful being that has
in those short three days with us shown what unconditional
love can be. We
hope that we made your passing easy and painless
and we hope to see you
again.
Because
of you, we will try harder in our mission to
save every
pit that we can and make the passing of the
others as peaceful as possible.
You, RedBoy, have changed the way people think
of the typical 'fighter' and
have opened the eyes of many to the cruel
life that fighters must lead, and
you showed how you can still make it out with a
gentle heart.
Thank you for what you have done in your
short time with us ................

CUPID
Unknown - February 2nd, 2004

Cupid
was such a sweet little boy, but he still never
had a chance at life.
Another
stray on deathrow, he was euthanized because the
shelter ran out
of room. Since pit bulls can be a challenge
to adopt out, he was the first to go. A victim
of society's ignorance, poor Cupid paid the ultimate
price.
Please
spay and neuter your pit bulls so wonderful dogs
like Cupid can have a
chance at life. |
