This photo was taken just a few weeks after we adopted Socca. She was
estimated to be six months old and weighed 20 lbs. I chose
her from about 100 dogs at the county pound. Socca wasn’t in the
greatest shape when we got her, but not too bad considering she was a
stray. She came to us with hook worms and kennel cough which cleared up
in a couple weeks and she put on five pounds almost immediately. Even
in this picture above you can see how skinny and gawky looking she
was! She has filled out tremendously - now she is over 50 lbs.
Officially, Socca is a "Boxer-mix" and her true origins are unknown.
When people started identifying her as a "Pitbull" I found the Petbull
List and its roster of fine contributors.

Smile

Another puppy picture of Socca. She does actually "smile" sometimes,
this was taken at a visit to my grandparents when she was about eight
months old.

Socca
|
Socca is mature and well behaved. She has a very important place in our
house. I love her as if she were my child and she is a respectful and sensitive
dog.
Stuff Socca likes: belly rubs, long walks, playing catch, showing off
her tricks, blankets warmed in the dryer, little girls, cuddling,
wrestling, soothing music, car trips.
Stuff Socca dislikes: being alone!!!, squirrels teasing her, quarrelsome
dogs, rain, angry people, loud noises, storm drains.
Special treats: plain cheese ravioli, cooked calves liver, grapes or
strawberries, wheat bran cereal.

Thanks to Socca, who is my first dog as an adult, (I grew up with German
Shepards) I have learned a lot about dogs and I am continuing to learn
more all
the time. I volunteer at a local animal shelter a couple evenings a
week. I am very interested in canine behavior/psychology.
I am a stubborn and loyal Aries; I just turned 32 years old. My other
interests include reading, writing, cooking, computers, art, nature and
wildlife.
